View email headers
Full headers can help identify who really sent an email, as well as the source of a delayed email. Here's how to view the full header information in Yahoo Mail.
While it's possible for a sender to forge false information in the brief headers, you can obtain the true information from the full headers.
Differences between brief and full headers
Contain the sender's address, the recipient address(es), the subject, and the time received. The brief header is shown by default.
An example of a brief header sent from InfoBeat (http://www.infobeat.com):
From: InfoBeat Add to Address Book To: ****@yahoo.com Subject: Finance - Full Closing Bell @ 08/20/97 (1 stories) Date: Wed, 20 Aug 1997 17:43:03 MDT
Contain detailed information about who sent the email, to whom it was sent, and the route the email traveled on the Internet.
View an email's full header:
- Open an email.
- Click More | select View Full Header.
- The full header opens.
