Enable JavaScript

JavaScript is a programming language that's essential to any modern Internet site. Without JavaScript enabled, some Yahoo features may not perform as designed. To fix performance problems, make sure JavaScript is enabled.

Steps for Yahoo supported browsers

Firefox

Verified for version 36

  1. Click the Tools Icon three horizontal bars | select Add-ons.
    - The "Add-ons Manager" window appears.
  2. Click Plugins.
  3. Click Java (TM) Platform plugin (Windows) or Java Applet Plug-in (Mac).
  4. In the drop-down, select Ask to Activate or Always Activate.
    Note: In older versions, click Enable (if the button says "Disable," Java is already enabled).

Chrome

Windows

Verified for version 40

  1. Click the Customize Chrome icon Three horizontal lines | select Settings.
  2. Click Show advanced settings.
  3. Under "Privacy," click Content settings.
  4. Under "JavaScript," select Allow all sites to run JavaScript.
  5. Click Done.

Mac

Verified for version 40

  1. Click Chrome (from the Apple/System bar at the top of the screen) | select Preferences.
  2. Click Show advanced settings.
  3. Under Privacy, click Content settings.
  4. Under "JavaScript," select Allow all sites to run JavaScript.
  5. Click Done.

Safari

Verified for version 8

  1. Click Safari Safari settings icon | select Preferences.
  2. Click Security.
  3. Select Enable JavaScript.
  4. Close the window to save the changes.

Internet Explorer

Verified for version 10

  1. Click the Tools Icon Tools menu icon | select Internet Options.
    - The "Internet Options" window appears.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Click the Internet icon.
  4. Click Custom Level.
    - The "Security Settings - Internet Zone" window appears.
  5. Under "Scripting | Active scripting," click Enable.
  6. Click OK.
    - The "Security Settings - Internet Zone" window closes.
  7. Click OK.
    - The "Internet Options" window closes.
  8. Restart Internet Explorer.
